Product Selection Guide for Cutting & Grinding Wheels, Flap Discs, and Flap Wheels

🔧 If you are the end user, choose products based on the material you are working on and the desired features (e.g., cutting speed, durability, surface finish).
🤝 If you are a trader, we can supply abrasive products as per your requirements, including OEM options for bulk quantities.

⚙️ Basic Principles for Choosing Cutting and Grinding Wheels

Abrasive Material Types:

🟤 A – Aluminium Oxide
⚪ WA – White Aluminium Oxide
⚫ C – Silicon Carbide
🔵 Z – Zirconium Aluminium
🟣 ZA – Zirconium Aluminium/Aluminium Oxide
🟢 GC – Green Silicon Carbide

Grit Size:

▪ 16–24 – Coarse
▪ 30–60 – Medium
▪ 80–600 – Fine

Hardness Level:

▪ J–L – Soft
▪ M–N – Medium
▪ O–S – Hard
▪ T–U – Very Hard

Applications:

▪ A – General metal cutting & grinding
▪ ZA / WA – Stainless steel cutting & grinding
▪ C / GC – Non-metal, stone cutting & polishing

 Cutting Wheels

▪ 1.0–2.0 mm – Fast and easy cutting
▪ 2.5 mm – For general purpose cutting
▪ 3.0–7.0 mm – Long life and high stability

 Grinding Wheels

▪ 4.0–6.5 mm (Aluminium Oxide) – Fast, light grinding
▪ 7.0 mm – Long life and high-profile stability

 Flap Discs

▪ Made from Aluminium Oxide, suitable for:
 🔩 Carbon steel
🪵 Wood, ferrous and non-ferrous materials
▪ Also known as Metal Polishing Flap Discs
▪ Compatible with electric/pneumatic tools & automated lines
▪ Ideal for polishing irregular surfaces, large workpieces, and precision finishing

 Flap Wheels

▪ Best for light grinding, blending, surface machining, deburring
▪ Used on metal, wood, plastic
▪ Choose coarse grit for quick material removal
▪ Choose fine grit for smooth finishes

⚠️ Safety Guidelines

🔍 Initial Checks:

✅ Use correct disc for stone or metal
✅ Inspect disc for damage or cracks
✅ Ensure disc is EN12413 certified and not expired
✅ Check machine safety, cleanliness, and electrical testing date

🔧 Before Fitting the Disc:

▪ Inspect and clean flanges (no damage or burrs)
▪ Use mounting blotters if provided
▪ Ensure disc is correctly centered and gripped

🧑‍🔧 Before Starting Work:

🥽 Wear goggles, gloves, ear protection, face mask, overalls
🪮 Tie back loose hair, secure clothing
🛡️ Ensure machine guards are fitted properly
⏱️ Allow machine to reach full speed (3 min) before cutting

🔨 During Use:

🚫 Avoid forcing the machine into the workpiece
🚫 Never cut curves with a straight cutting disc
🔃 Use correct angles for grinding
✊ Hold workpiece and machine firmly

✅ Best Practices

✅ ALWAYS:

📦 Store discs in a dry, clean area
👁️ Inspect discs before each use
⚙️ Match disc RPM with machine speed
🟢 Start cutting gently

❌ NEVER:

❌ Use damaged or expired discs
❌ Exceed maximum RPM
❌ Use cutting discs for grinding
❌ Use machine without guards
❌ Force disc into workpiece before it starts
❌ Over-tighten the locking flange
